Images and Installation

There is more than one way of getting your Raspberry PI up and running your D-Star radio kit using the Jonathan Naylor packages, here are a few alternatives.

Before you start straight out of the box, there are certain basics we must have in place.

  1. A Raspberry PI (only tried on type ‘B’) and a power source, dedicated PSU or decent quality micro-USB cable.
  2. An SD card (4Gb or above).
  3. A PC with an internet connection.
  4. An SD card reader/writer

If the dates for the ircDDBGateway or Repeater packages listed here for the complete image is older than the updates shown on the homepage, then download the image that suits your installation and simply run ‘KLXupdate’ as documented on the desktop.

** PLEASE READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING **

As the developer (Jonathan Naylor G4KLX) of the software bundled on the images below has moved over to a ‘one size fits all’ solution in order to make life easier for us, I will only be maintaining the ‘D_StarRepeater’ option from the list unless requested otherwise. However, all the images below have the ‘klxupdater’ installed and therefore could be brought up-to-date in minutes if they are your chosen option.

It must be emphasised that this is an EXPERIMENTAL image based on the latest (27/5/16) Jessie image. It has most of the same features as the more proven image above, it also has a MINIMAL installation of MMDVM INTENDED FOR DVMEGA (with the appropriate firmware) experimenters only.. MMDVM can prove complicated to the beginner, there is a MMDVM Yahoo group that is very active and helpful.. PLEASE DO NOT BURDEN the G4KLX forums with gripes about the image.

***As this is an EXPERIMENTAL image it may change often until proven.***
